The holidays are here, and at Lumina, we’re excited to kick off the season with a tradition that truly captures the spirit of giving! This year, we’re proud to join Morguard’s North Pole Express, a four-week donation drive focused on bringing comfort and joy to children in foster care. We’ve teamed up with Comfort Cases, an amazing nonprofit dedicated to making a difference in the lives of foster kids, and we’d love for our Lumina community to join us in spreading some holiday cheer!
What Is the North Pole Express? 🎅
This is more than just your typical holiday drive. The North Pole Express focuses on collecting essential items that can brighten a child’s day and bring comfort when they need it most. Morguard’s nationwide initiative unites communities like Lumina to collect donations that make a real impact. For the next four weeks, we’re turning our lobby into a festive drop-off point for your thoughtful contributions.
Who Are We Supporting? 💙
We’re honored to partner with Comfort Cases, a nonprofit founded by Rob Scheer, who grew up in the foster care system. Rob created Comfort Cases to change the heartbreaking reality that many children enter foster care with their belongings in trash bags. Comfort Cases provides these children with backpacks filled with essentials like cozy pajamas, books, blankets, and hygiene products.
These comfort cases are more than just backpacks—they are a way to show children they are seen, cared for, and valued. Each item inside brings a message of dignity, hope, and comfort to kids going through challenging transitions.
How Can You Get Involved? 🎁
We invite all of our wonderful Lumina residents to join us in making the season brighter for children in need! From now until December 13th, we’re collecting the following items in our lobby:
- New pajamas (all sizes welcome)
- Diaper wipes (packs of 10-48)
- Children’s books (because every child deserves a bedtime story)
- Small blankets & stuffed animals (for warmth and comfort)
- Baby washcloths (to help little ones stay clean)
Please note that all donations must be new and unused, and they should not be religious or holiday-themed to ensure they are suitable for all children.
